Founded in 1926, Kasisi Children's Home is situated 37 km from Lusaka, out in the Zambian countryside.
The main objective of the Children's Home is to provide orphaned, abused or abandoned children with basic needs, care, love and protection, and to ensure that the children will be self-supporting once they reach adulthood. It consists of a wing for babies and younger children, a small house for older girls, a street children's house, and two wings for children living with HIV/AIDS, namely 'The House of Hope'.
The work of Kasisi has expanded as the epidemic of AIDS has taken over the country and the continent. At the moment there are 250 children at Kasisi, the youngest a newborn, the oldest 20 years. Many are brought by relatives unable to care for infants.
The Children’s Home survives through the generous support of friends worldwide. Those who have visited Kasisi have fallen in love.
